five-stars

I first met Celaena Sardothien two years ago, when I borrowed Throne of Glass from my school's library. Since that day I have fallen in love with Celaena, her cunning wit never seems to fail to cheer me up and her adventures always keeps me on edge. In other words, Celaena Sardothien is a powerful heroine that shows she is much of a fantastic hero as Harry Potter and Katniss Everdeen! Sarah J. Maas' writing is brilliant to read, I was instantly hooked from page one of Queen of Shadows and I found it incredibly hard to put down. With every book that Sarah J. Maas brings out, I'm finding it harder and harder to claim which novel is my favourite! Sarah is a talented author, and it really shows within her writing!

When I decided to start Queen of Shadows, I was terrified to read the first word. This was mainly because of the book hangover that the previous book- Heir of Fire- had left me in. But it was also because I knew that I would be smacked in the face by all of my emotions. And I can honestly say that you will laugh, cry and scream at the characters. The amount of times I sobbed throughout this book was ridiculous! The plot was perfectly written, everything was described beautifully, it was clear to read, and it was so hard to predict what would happen to each of the characters. Sarah J. Maas' writing will glue you to the page, and from the other books I have read by this author I can clearly say the same for all of her other novels! Expect action, wit, romance and a badass heroine in Queen of Shadows, and those are just to name a few things that will come your way in the plot.

I cannot express my love for Celaena, Chaol, Dorian, Rowan, Manon, and all of the other characters because they are all equally unique, funny and different from each other. Picking a favourite character in this series is like picking a favourite child. And, frankly, if I chose a favourite character I'm pretty sure all hell would break loose and I'll probably be slaughtered by the other characters. However, I have to say that all of the characters were phenomenally written. Celaena has somehow become more badass than ever, Chaol has stolen my heart forever, Dorian has grown from the first time I've met him, Rowan has grown on me a lot and Manon, well she's possibly one of the best YA witches I have met in a very long time!

Queen of Shadows has left me in a book hangover. Simple as that. It was one heck of a read, and I enjoyed it so much! I'm really looking forward to be seeing what Sarah J. Maas brings out next, because I do crave her writing. I'm really hoping that this series does get adapted into a movie or a TV show because it is something that deserves to be seen by everyone. If you haven't read the previous books in this series, I recommend that you do because they are such awesome books to read!
